Tina Ball - Teaching Assistant Class 2

Hi my name is Tina Ball and I work at Hampton Lucy school.

When not at work there are many varied jigsaw pieces that make me!

My first love will always be my animals. I keep chinchillas and had a beautiful rabbit. I also find it calming to sit and watch the koi fish swim around the big pond.

My greatest passion which is how I met my husband is Roller Coasters! I have travelled around Europe and America to visit theme parks and travelling fairs.   I once rode a Roller coaster nonstop for a whole week for charity.  On my travels whilst relaxing I have been lucky enough to explore places such as Keukenhof the land of Tulips! The windmills in Holland and other places of interest. Exploring caves, volcanoes and have swam with dolphins.

In-between my busy life I like to spend time in my garden trying to keep it looking nice all year round. But when the weather may not be so nice, I like to sit and enjoy arts and crafts.

Nicola (Madame) Chambers - Class 4 and Class 3 Teacher

Fluent in Italian and talented at languages at school, I graduated from University with a BA(Hons) degree in French and German. Seeking adventure, I then spent several years travelling around India, South East Asia and Africa. My passion for teaching began when I taught English as a foreign language in Thailand. Following this, I gained my PGCE, taught at a secondary school and International school and then lived for 5 years in India and Singapore.

Since returning to the UK, I have enjoyed teaching at Hampton Lucy Primary – both as a French teacher and part-time Class teacher for Year 3&4 and 5&6.

In my spare time, I keep fit by playing tennis and going on dog walks with my family. I also love art, listening to music and playing the piano. Usually, you can find me cheering my daughter on the sidelines of her netball matches and during Panto season helping behind the scenes at Shottery Youth Theatre. My greatest love is exploring different countries – I absolutely live to travel!

Richard Degg - Class 2 Teacher

Prior to retraining as a teacher in my early thirties, I worked for over ten years in the Publishing Industry.

I have been at Hampton Lucy since relocating to Warwickshire with my family in 2006 and have taught across all age ranges.

I am committed to make a real difference to the lives of our children; safeguarding their welfare – particularly in my role as Lead for E-Safety. I love grappling with new technology and am never happier than when I am on my hands and knees on the carpet with the children helping them to construct some DT project!

In my spare time, I enjoy cycling and watching most sports.  I am currently writing my first novel – but progress is very slow!!

Helen Hogg - School Business Manager

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Hampton Lucy Primary School since I joined in 2018. It is fabulous to work with such enthusiastic and happy pupils, and their families. Often the first point of contact in school, I hope to be friendly and helpful to our pupils, parents, carers staff and visitors.

Outside of school, I enjoy running and baking, both of which are more successful on some days than others!

Lucy Jackson - Head Teacher

I became a part of the Hampton Lucy family in 2003. Since then I have taught every class in the school and have fulfilled my stated ambition at interview to assume Headship of the school, albeit in a shared capacity at the present time.

I am passionate about Geography and Science, my two specialised subjects I studied at University. I am a qualified horse-riding instructor and organising official for the Pony Club. My favourite day in the school calendar is World Book Day when I can dress up and perform in character as one of my favourite book characters. I enjoy the fun both children and staff have on the day, relishing reading.

Outside school, I am a devoted mum to my three children and enjoy the great outdoors and baking. My chocolate brownies are known to have a recuperative effect on an exhausted staff at the end of term!

Julia Jolliffe  - SEN Teaching Assistant Class 3

I have worked as an Analytical Chemist in the Water industry for 20 years. I have also worked as an Analytical Chemist in the electronics industry and at the Horticultural Research Institute.

My children went to  Hampton Lucy and as a family we were well supported.

I have had several roles in school, Midday Supervisor, TA Cooking with small groups of children from all classes, and Teaching Assistant in all classes. I am currently Teaching Assistant in Class 3 with Mrs Perkins and Madame Chambers.

I’m very enthusiastic about the children’s learning and I’m pleased to be part of their unique learning experience at Hampton Lucy.

My hobbies are tennis, badminton and walking. I also enjoy any opportunity to dress up, for example, on World Book Day!

Claire McKenzie – Nursery Leader Class One

I have worked at Hampton Lucy School for seven years, initially supporting children with additional needs. I then became the Teaching Assistant in Class 2. In 2018 I went back to University to complete the Early Years Teacher Status Programme. Since accreditation, I have supported children in Nursery and Reception. My passion is promoting health and well-being in Early Childhood.

I have two grown up children.

In my spare time I enjoy gardening, walking in woods and meeting friends for tea and cake!

Caroline Perkins - Class 3 Teacher

I studied teaching at Exeter University and have been at Hampton Lucy since 2005.

Hampton Lucy is my extended family, as I have married and had all my children whilst being at the school!

I have taught all the way across from Class 2 through to Class 4. No two days are the same in teaching and I love that constant change and the wonderful variety of children we get to work with.

In my spare time I am mainly ‘Mum’ to my three girls. I love walking and being outdoors all the time, so sitting around is never an option!

Abby Ratcliffe - SEN Teaching Assistant Class 4

I have worked in various sectors prior to arriving at Hampton Lucy, including travel and recruitment, but working with children is by far the most enriching role and one I feel privileged to be able to do. Having a son who is autistic has given me a valuable insight into the daily struggles for SEN children who, for many reasons, find school life more challenging than others. I want to use my personal and professional experience to make school more accessible and enjoyable for our children.

I am passionate about SEN and mental health issues and volunteer for a mental health charity which I find extremely rewarding. I am committed to making a positive difference to the lives of others.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my children – a movie night in front of the fire is a big part of our weekend life! I also like walking, yoga and reading.

Ali Steer - Class 4 Teacher

After graduating with a degree in physics and maths, I studied for my postgraduate certificate in education and qualified as a teacher. I have taught all ages across the primary age range and enjoy passing on my passion for learning to the children I teach.

At Hampton Lucy, I am Maths Coordinator and teach Class 4.

Outside of school I can often be found roaming the countryside with my dog, Smudge or standing on a touchline supporting my family in their various sporting pursuits.

Rachel Thomas – EYFS Nursery + Reception Teacher

I joined the Hampton Lucy team in June 2020, as a Newly Qualified Teacher. I have many years of childcare experience behind me, working as a teaching assistant for 6 years before training as a teacher. My passion has always been Early Years and offering the very best provision for young children to begin their journey in education.

During my spare time, I enjoy baking delicious cakes and biscuits, and going for walks with friends, family and my little dog, Barney! He loves to chase leaves in the sunshine!!
