Music
Our aim is for the children to develop their love for music and feel confident when singing and performing. They will understand the key musical terms, appreciate a variety of musical genres and composers and have the opportunity to play different percussion instruments.
Music lessons taught in KS1 and KS2 will correspond with the national curriculum guidance and focus on the four main strands for musical learning - singing, listening, composing and performing. The main emphasis will be on singing.
Music Co-ordinator Mrs Nicola Chambers
‘’Music is our way of expressing ourselves. Our voice is our instrument. So feel the rhythm, feel the beat, sing your heart out and tap those feet. Relax, Smile and improvise - enjoy and go with the flow!"

Wednesday Singing Worship
Every Wednesday morning, children at Hampton Lucy C of E Primary School enjoy learning and singing a variety of traditional and modern worship songs. Led by Mrs Chambers (Music Lead) and Mrs Steer (PSHE Lead), we choose Primary school songs from ‘Out of the Ark’ and ‘BBC Assembly’ to support our singing in every collective worship throughout the week. We also learn songs in preparation for the monthly Sunday family worship at St. Peter ad Vincula C of E Church located alongside our school.
Our Singing Worship links in with the National Curriculum for music for KS1 and KS2 by giving the children an opportunity to confidently sing and enjoy performing in an ensemble. Spiritualism is promoted through the music that we listen to and sing. The songs tie in with important dates in the Christian calendar such as Christmas and Easter. The song lyrics allow children to reflect upon stories taken from the bible and values that they constantly learn about during their PSHE and RE lessons.
