Pupils should develop fundamental movement skills, become increasingly competent and confident and access a broad range of opportunities to extend their agility, balance and coordination, individually and with others. They should be able to engage in competitive (both against self and against others) and cooperative physical activities, in a range of increasingly challenging situations.
Pupils should be taught to:
- Master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching as well as developing balance, agility and coordination and begin to apply these in a range of activities and continue to apply and develop a broader range of skills in KS1 and 2.
- Participate in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and then defending and play competitive games, modified where appropriate applying basic principles suitable for attacking and defending in KS1 and 2.
- Perform dances using simple movement patterns and then perform dances using a range of movement patterns in KS1 and 2.
- KS2-Take part in OAA challenges both individually and within a team
How we teach PE
At Hampton Lucy C of E Primary School, we base our PE on REAL PE. Onside Coaching also cover half of our Sports timetable for all classes and offers the children the experience of qualified sports coaches. We have also invited experienced coaches into school to introduce children to other sports like cricket and tennis.
