Personal, Social & Health Education
At Hampton Lucy C of E Primary school, we endeavour to enhance the children’s learning by giving them learning opportunities beyond the classroom and curriculum.
We plan a range of events on an annual or biannual basis, but also have one off events to mark occasions of national importance (for example celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE day) or when the children are inspired to hold an event (for example class 4 raising money to sponsor a polar bear after reading ‘The Last Bear’)
We encourage the older children to take a lead role in creating and leading charity events, such as designing and holding a party for Comic relief, where the children created party games.
Children from all classes have the opportunity to lead collective worship on a topic of their choice. This may link to one of our values or it may reflect the children’s own interests, culture or religion.
At Hampton Lucy School, the child’s voice is central to all we do. Our school council has representatives from all classes and have helped the school make decisions on play equipment and school dinners.
Our Year 6s take on a number of roles and responsibilities which allow them to develop their leadership and organisation skills. The children always relish these opportunities and show great maturity and perseverance. The year 6s are also buddies to the reception children, making the new starters feel welcomed, valued and at home. Year 6 also take on lead roles in our church services.
