History
Our aim is for all children to be curious about the stories of our past, how people used to live and how historical figures paved the way for our current way of life.

How we teach History
At Hampton Lucy C of E Primary School, in order for children to know more and remember more in each area of history studied, the lesson sequence is structured so that prior learning is always considered and opportunities for revision and retrieval of key dates, events and facts are built into lessons. In this way, revision becomes a part of good practice and helps knowledge ‘stick’. We want to encourage children to learn that although they can’t change history they can learn about it to learn from it and then use this information to help shape a better future.
